This policy explains, in plain language, what data the Dhikr app collects, why, how it is stored, and the choices and rights you have.
Who we are
Dhikr is a small, non-commercial app that helps you remember Allah through the day. It is run privately and is in active development. For any question about your data, or to make a privacy request, use the contact form at the bottom of this page.
What we collect
• Account details: your email address, your name, and a password (stored only as a secure bcrypt hash — we never see or store your actual password).
• Your practice data: the dhikr you add and your daily counts and progress, so the app can sync across your devices.
• Optional audio: if you record or upload custom audio for a dhikr, that file is stored on our server. Recordings may contain your voice, so we treat them as personal data.
• Feedback: if you send feedback, we store your message, the page you were on, your browser type, an optional email if you provide one, and the IP address of the request (used to reduce spam and abuse).
• Anonymous usage statistics: we count page visits with our own first-party analytics — the page visited, the site that referred you (for example a search engine), an approximate country (derived from your IP via Cloudflare and then discarded), and how long the visit lasted. It uses no cookies, stores no raw IP address, does not track you across sites, and does not build a profile of you. Visitor counts use an anonymous identifier that resets every day.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. To keep you signed in, your browser stores a login token in local storage, along with a couple of small preferences (such as your chosen language). These are essential to run the app and are not used for tracking. Our analytics is cookieless.
Why we use your data (legal basis)
We process account and practice data to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract). We process feedback data and anonymous analytics on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, secure, and improving — kept to the minimum needed.
Where it is stored and who can see it
Your data is stored on our own self-hosted server located in the European Union (Germany). We do not sell your data and do not share it with advertisers or third-party trackers. Access is limited to what is needed to operate the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and practice data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your account, dhikr, sessions, counts, and uploaded audio are permanently removed, and any feedback you sent is disassociated from you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or Turkey’s KVKK), you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing.
You can delete everything yourself at any time: Settings → Delete account. For any other request, contact us using the form below and we will respond.
Children
The app is not directed at children who are below the age of digital consent in their country. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app develops. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
Have a question about your data, or about these terms? Send us a message and we’ll get back to you.
